OBITUARY: Agnes Garden

Agnes Garden, 90, formerly of Longboat Key and Sarasota, died Nov. 16.

Born March 5, 1920, in Jamaica Plain, Mass., she married her husband, Douglas, in 1948. In 1960, the couple moved to Melrose, Mass., where they raised six children and Mrs. Garden worked in municipal government.

After retiring, Mrs. Garden lived in Hyanis, Mass., Longboat Key and Sarasota before moving to retirement communities in New York and Massachusetts.

Mrs. Garden is remembered for her strong religious faith, devotion to family, love of Irish music and culture and storytelling abilities.

Mrs. Garden is survived by sons Douglas Jr., of Sarasota, Thomas, of Boston, and Edward, of Greenwich, Conn.; daughters Mary Turco, of Norwich, Vt., Suzanne Garden, of Lake Balboa, and Regina LaRose, of Andover, Mass.; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A service took place Thursday, Nov. 18, in Woburn, Mass.
