Morton Goodman
Morton Goodman, 85, of Sarasota and formerly of Longboat Key and Rockville Centre, N.Y., died May 3.

Born June 27, 1923, Mr. Goodman served as a lieutenant in the Army Air Forces during World War II, flying combat missions in Italy. After World War II, he graduated from Syracuse University and later managed his family business.

In 1976, Mr. Goodman moved to Longboat Key and opened the Bagel Inn, in Sarasota. He later became a health-insurance agent. He was a former president of the Longboat Key Democratic Club.

Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife, Bernice; sons, Robert and Jon; and two grandsons.

Memorial services were held Saturday, May 9, at Unity Hall, in Sarasota.

Miriam Greenberg
Miriam Greenberg, 97, of Sarasota and formerly of Longboat Key, died May 9. Born Nov. 11, 1911, she was a former resident of Roslyn Heights, N.Y. She was a member of Temple Beth Israel.

Mrs. Greenberg is survived by sons, Eric, of Paramus, N.J., and Laurence, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brothers Herman Herbert, of Wynnewood, Pa., and Irwin Herbert, of Cherry Hill, N.J.; and three grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, May 5, at Toale Brothers Funeral Homes, Colonial Chapel, Sarasota.

Claire Louise ‘Imee’ Henkle
Claire Louise “Imee” Henkle, 86, of Longboat Key, died April 23.

Born April 20, 1923, in Baltimore, she worked a sales associate at Rhonda Dorf and Jones & Jones, both in Baltimore, before retirement.

Mrs. Henkle was a member of Christ Church of Longboat Key, Presbyterian, The Newcomers Club of Sarasota, Meals on Wheels soup kitchen and the Encore Group.

Mrs. Henkle was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; children, William, Maria and Claire; and one grandson. She is survived by daughters Claudia Parkhust, of Williston, Marian Thomas, of Bradenton, and
Maggie Overdorf, of Palm City; son, Dean, of Stuart; sister, Kathleen Jones, of Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial celebration took place Saturday, May 9, at Christ Church of Longboat Key, Presbyterian.

Virginia Marie Kirby
Virginia Marie Kirby, 91, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and formerly of Longboat Key, died May 7.

Mrs. Kirby was born Feb. 8, 1918. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, and daughter, Susan Mordvinov.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Maria Shuler, and grandson, Alexander Mordvinov; and four great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, May 11, in Myrtle Beach. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church, 4280 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Longboat Key, Fla., 34228.
