+ FedEx vice president buys $6.8 million Key home
Alan Graf Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Memphis, Tenn., are the buyers of the home at 6001 Gulf of Mexico Drive that sold last week for $6.8 million, according to Manatee County property records.

Graf is executive vice president and chief financial officer of FedEx Corp., according to the company’s website. The sale was the highest amount paid for a Longboat Key residence since April 2011.

The Addy-Wittig Team, of Michael Saunders & Co.’s Longboat Key South office, and Jonathan Abrams, of the company’s Siesta Key office, co-listed the property.

Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate agent Lynne Koy represented the property’s buyers.

The new 6,959-square-foot home has four bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms and more than an acre of Gulf-front land.

James Abrams, who purchased the vacant 1.12-acre parcel for $1.8 million in April 2011, was the seller of the property.

Officer Derek Conley stopped traffic several times while collecting the lost critters in a box and released them into the Gulf of Mexico, according to a news release.

+ Town of Longboat Key seeks volunteers for two boards
The town of Longboat Key is looking for town residents to volunteer for two boards.

The town is accepting applications for the Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Citizens Oversight Committee for the Interlocal Agreement (ILA) on Public School Facility Planning.

Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Aug. 19 to the Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road.

All applicants must be registered voters of the town of Longboat Key.

Applications are available at Town Hall or can be downloaded at longboatkey.org.
