Myakka City teen dies in accident

A Myakka City teen was killed on Friday evening in Manatee County when a Cadillac SRX attempting to pass a slower vehicle on 61st Avenue East hit his dirt bike head-on.

Jeffrey Taylor Dahl was riding his 2004 Honda 230 dirt bike westbound on 61st Avenue just east of the intersection with 249th Street East when he was hit by the Cadillac driven by Myakka City's Wilson Patrick Devine. According to a Florida Highway Patrol statement, Devine was traveling eastbound when he pulled into the westbound lane to pass a slower-moving vehicle.

The police report stated that Devine was charged with "improper passing."

No criminal charges were filed.
