The Manatee Historical Park hopes its newest addition will get kids in the loco (motive) spirit.

The park officially opened Junior Junction — its new train-themed playground — Aug. 4. The play area, geared toward ages 2 through 12, features a black and red train-turned-play-area, with attached slides, climbing walls, a conductor's wheel and two train bells.

The park, located at 1404 Manatee Ave. E., housed a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the play area July 26.

Donors of the project include the city of Bradenton, Kiwanis clubs of Bradenton and Cortez, Macy's and Mosaic.
