Manatee schools see improvement

Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test scores released today indicate Manatee County public school have achieved learning gains in writing and math.

The Florida Department of Education's data shows a 9% increase in writing proficiency for district fourth-graders, with 54% of students scoring Level 3.5 or higher compared with 45% one year ago.  District 10th graders achieved a 7% increase, with 58% scoring Level 3.5 or higher compared to 51% one year ago.

Third-graders also was learning gains with 54% of district student achieving Level 3 or higher — a 5% increase from last year. In reading, third graders increased by 2%.
