Manatee County schools closed on Thursday, Sept. 1

Due to heavy rainfall, all schools, district offices and extracurricular activities are cancelled

All Manatee School District school's, office's and extracurricular activities cancelled Thursday.

The Manatee County School District has announced its schools and district offices will be closed Thursday, Sept. 1, due to excessive rainfall and unsafe travel conditions.

On Thursday, the district will make a decision about shutting down again Friday.

Additionally, all extracurricular activities have been cancelled for Wednesday, Aug. 31. Extended day programs will operate as normal.

“With the heavier rainfall forecast for Thursday, we do not want our students, parents or employees out driving in these conditions,” Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene said in a press release.
