Manatee County School District seeks input on 2015-2016 school year calendar

Collaboration between Manatee County parents, teachers, union representatives, Manatee County School District employees and other community members resulted in a proposed draft of a  2015-2016 school year calendar.

Now, the district wants to hear from you.

County students would begin classes Monday, Aug. 24 and end classes on Friday, June 10, 2016, according to the proposed calendar.

Students can't start school earlier than Aug. 24, because of Florida Statute 1001.42 (4)(f), which prevents classes from starting earlier than 14 days before Labor Day.

Notable dates to remember on the proposed calendar include:

— March 28, 2016 through April 8, 2016: The Florida Standards Assessment (FSA)

— March 14, 2016 through March 18, 2016: Spring Break
