The Manatee County School District is another step closer to deciding when students will start and end classes next school year.

At its meeting at 5:45 p.m. Oct. 13, the school  board will review a draft of the calendar, which shows students starting classes Aug. 10, 2016 and ending the school year May 31, 2017.

The earlier start date brings students and faculty back to school two weeks earlier than in August 2015.

The district attempted to approve a calendar with an early August start date earlier this year, but community feedback prompted officials to push the date back to Aug. 24.

Other calendar highlights include spring break running from March 20 through March 24; May 19 graduation date for Braden River High School and May 20 graduation for Lakewood Ranch High School students.
