Manatee County commissioners on Tuesday are expected to take the next step in promoting the passage of a half-cent infrastructure sales tax.

During its Aug. 9 meeting, the board is expected to establish a Citizens Oversight Committee, which would be tasked with ensuring the county uses sales tax revenues according to its proposal and also approving any changes to its project list.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. in the county’s administration building, 1112 Manatee Avenue W., Bradenton.

Manatee County voters will consider a half-cent sales tax to pay for infrastructure needs on the November ballot.
