In honor of Veterans Day, The East County Observer headed to Braden River Middle School this week to find out what students think about the holiday and why it’s important.

What does Veterans Day mean to you?

Brendan Siegel, 14
It’s a day to celebrate people who served in the war. They risked their lives just for our freedom.

Angela Gennocro, 12
It’s a time to thank the people who have served our country and helped protect us.

Katelyn Molter, 14
It’s a time to give thanks to our veterans who have saved and protected us so much. It’s a good day to give back to them.

Jamar Pouncey, 15
It’s a day to celebrate the veterans and how they served us. If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t have freedom.

Zaylon Freeman
There are so many soldiers out there fighting for our country that haven’t been recognized. They made Veterans Day for that — to give out a celebration for them.
