On Thursday, we headed to Tiny’s of Longboat Key to ask locals about the signs of summer on Longboat.

“Complete the sentence: You know it’s summer on Longboat when … ”

Gwen Mooney

“You can bowl on Gulf of Mexico Drive … And when every bird walks around like nobody’s here. Nobody is.”

Ron Vale
“Roads are empty. Turtles come out every season. I’m retired. Summer is like fall, winter and spring.”

Mel Schwartz

“When I can pull out of my street without having to stop for traffic.”

Steve Carey
“There are no people around.”

Colleen Collandra
“There is no traffic and the bar business is slow.”

Graham Cox
“You start sweating. Either that, or your beer feels warmer.”
