Man on the street: Black Friday

Have you ever shopped on Black Friday and will you this year?

“I avoid shopping on Black Friday like the plague. I don’t like the crowds, and I really don’t understand the mentality of the shoppers. I shop helter-skelter all year, and I even avoid shopping at the mall again for the crowds.”

“I have shopped on Black Friday several times and will be getting up early this Friday to shop. My daughter Cindy’s birthday is on Friday. My husband and I want to get her a TV set. We have checked the ads and know where we are going. We’ve also seen a living room fireplace set we’re going to looking for.”

“We’re from Montreal, and we were here last year but came too late. This year we bought a place here. I’ll definitely be out there. I know I’ll be checking out sporting goods stores. But the most fun is going to be shopping at Goodwill. All the stores have a 50% off sale, and a friend of mine is coming with me. We have have our route all mapped out. We hope we can get to all of their stores.”

“I’m from England, but my wife and I have been coming to the Key for 14 years, always at holiday time. So, I do know all about Black Friday but I can’t think of anything that would get me up at 4 a.m. to shop. We generally go shopping a couple of days later and check the leftovers. We usually shop for clothing.”

“I have shopped on Black Friday, and I might go this year except I am leaving for Dubai and a cruise this week. My wife and I do a lot of traveling. We recently went to China and I remember I bought caps reading the Great Wall of China and some watches. I expect I’ll find something interesting in Dubai.”

“You won’t find me shopping — too many crowds, too hectic. I celebrate Hanukkah, which is in December this year. Not much shopping for me.”

“I usually do shop on Black Friday, and I will again this year. It’s exciting. I always shop for clothes and check out the labels. I have had some great buys in suits and sweaters over the years. Maybe I’ll find some again this year.”
