A career criminal is accused of violating his probation by breaking into a probation office last night and stealing his own files.

Aaron Moench, 25, was caught outside the Florida Department of Corrections Parole and Probation office at 685 S. Tamiami Trail, Nokomis.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a burglary in progress at that address at about 9 p.m. last night. They surrounded the building, and Moench ran outside to get away, reports said. He didn’t get far before he was captured.

Moench has a criminal history dating back to 2003, when he turned 18. His arrests include 10 previous burglary charges. Of those, nine ended in convictions. Moench’s three other arrests were for crimes such as hit and run, drug possession and resisting arrest.
