A 20-year-old Cortez man fell off the bow of a 43-foot commercial fishing boat Thursday more than 10 miles offshore of Longboat Key.
Longboat Key Police Chief Al Hogle said the U.S. Coast Guard was handling the search for Michael Taylor because the boat, named Cindy Lee, was located in federal waters.
Hogle said Taylor, who has been missing since Thursday evening, has no connection to Longboat Key.
