Emergency responders treated a man found in distress in the water at Siesta Beach Monday morning.

The lifeguard on duty removed the man from the water and administered CPR, according to lifeguard chief Scott Montgomery.

An email sent from Sarasota County Fire Chief Mike Tobias to county commissioners and executive leaders said Fire/Emergency Medical Service crews arrived on the scene from the Siesta Key station and performed Advanced Life Support measures on the man, who was described only as “middle aged” in the message.
The man regained his pulses, the email stated, and was speaking with emergency crews while in transit to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Montgomery said.

The cause of the man’s distress was unknown as of Monday afternoon. The incident is not being ruled as a drowning or near drowning at this time, Montgomery said.
