Police have arrested a man for an aggravated assault that occurred on a Sarasota County Area Transit bus earlier this month.

Albert Singletary, 31, was charged with felony aggravated assault after being arrested on Tuesday, the Sarasota Police Department announced. The U.S. marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted in making the arrest.

On July 19, a woman reported that a man sat near her on the bus and repeatedly attempted to speak with her. According to the report, the woman tried to ignore the man, but did give him her name when he asked for it. The woman said the man began to repeat her name incessantly before asking for her phone number, which she declined to give to him.

At this point, the man got up and pulled a knife from his pocket, revealing the blade to the woman before closing it and putting it away. The woman then exited the bus.
