Mall at University Town Center names new GM

The Mall at University Town Center has a new general manager.

Jeramy Burkinshaw has taken over responsibilities for operations, marketing and retailer and community relations for the shopping center.

A Taubman Centers release said Burkinshaw has more than 14 years of operational and managerial experience. He comes to Sarasota from Salt Lake City's City Creek Center, which is one of Taubman's premier shopping and dining destinations.

He has served on the grand-opening team for Taubman at malls in Waikiki, Hawaii, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Salt Lake City and Sarasota.

“Having served on the grand opening team for The Mall at University Town Center, I am very familiar with the unique position the center holds within the community,” Burkinshaw said in a release. “This is a vibrant market and I look forward to contributing to the center’s ongoing success.”

The Mall at University Town Center contains 880,000 square feet of retail space with major retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's and Dillard's.
