Longboat's gas station running on empty

Longboat Key’s only gas station is quickly running out of fuel.

The BP Longboat Key gas station and car wash, 400 Gulf of Mexico Drive, is running out of gasoline because of a shipment problem at the Port of Tampa.

Mike Monhollon, manager of the gas station at 400 Gulf of Mexico Drive, told the Longboat Observer the station is currently out of premium and mid-grade gasoline.

“The Port of Tampa didn’t receive a shipment carrying our BP fuel, and we won’t put another type of fuel into our tanks,” Monhollon said.

The station expects to receive a shipment of gas either today or tomorrow morning.

In the meantime, low-grade fuel is still available.
