The Longboat Key Revitalization Task Force wants faster traffic fixes from the Florida Department of Transportation.

Task force Chairman Tom Freiwald released a petition Friday calling for immediate action to mitigate traffic congestion during the 2017 tourist season.

"We would like to get thousands of signatures from all over the area," Freiwald said.

The petition is being circulated already via email and its format will be presented to the Metropolitan Planning Organization at its Monday meeting, Freiwald said.
