Longboat Key police report string of bicycle thefts

Longboat Key police say that at least 11 bicycles have been reported stolen since March.

Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach have also experienced a rash of thefts, according to Capt. Kristina Roberts.

In more than one case, the individual(s) cut the lock or cable.

Police recommend that residents lock their bicycles and store them in their units or their condominium’s storage area. They also say owners should note the make, model and serial numbers of their bicycles.
