Longboat Key makes list of Florida's safest places

Longboat Key isn’t sexy like Sarasota and Bradenton, which recently ranked first and third on Movoto’s “sexiest small cities in America” poll, but it was recently recognized for another attribute: safety.

Safe Choice Security ranked Longboat Key No. 10 on its list of the 20 safest cities in Florida. To compile the list, available atidahttp://www.safechoicesecurity.com/blog/safest-cities-in-flor, Safe Choice Security compared more than 300 cities in Florida using 2012 FBI crime statistics. Longboat Key reported .28 violent crimes and 17.45 property crimes per 1,000 citizens.

Fantastic beaches are a hallmark of Longboat Key, making it a favorite with snowbirds, as well as homesteaders. Its Code Red communication system goes above and beyond to keep citizens safe,” the blog states.
