8:59 a.m., 6800 block of Hughes Street
Noise: A resident called police about a noise complaint regarding a nearby property under a “no work order.’’ An officer arrived and spoke to the property owner who said his building contractor had all the required paperwork to begin a renovation project, that he had been in contact with the town’s code-enforcement office and that any outstanding issues should be resolved later in the day. The officer, who reported construction was not proceeding in his presence, reported back to the resident on his findings.
9:46 a.m., 1900 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Citizen dispute: A difference of opinion at a gated community’s guard house prompted a call to police. Once officers arrived, they determined the issue had been prompted by a property owner within the community who forgot to alert the gatekeeper that a visitor was expected to visit that day. The issue was resolved by the homeowner, and officers were not required to pursue further investigation.
8:30 p.m., 1100 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Fire assist: Police and fire-rescue personnel responded to a residence in which a person was accidentally trapped in a shower enclosure. The trapped individual was rescued with no injuries.
5:06 p.m., 2500 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Citizen assist: A disabled car that could not be shifted into neutral prompted a call to police and, eventually, a towing service. Police received the call about the car and learned not only would it not start, but electrical issues apparently were preventing the transmission to be shifted into neutral to push it out of the way. An officer stayed at the scene with his vehicle’s emergency lights activated until the tow truck arrived.
7:43 a.m., 6800 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Noise: A contractor loading a small earthmover on a trailer created enough noise on a Sunday morning to prompt a call to police. The worker was advised of town regulations on work-related noise.
8:22 p.m., 1600 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Traffic hazard: Police investigating a report of a traffic hazard found a small piece of plastic in the turn lane. The officer retrieved the detritus and placed it in his patrol vehicle for disposal later.
5:51 p.m., 1000 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Traffic hazard: A pair of officers notified security staffers of a gated community that they had found the remains of the gate arm on the travel lanes of a nearby road. The officers removed the hazard from the pavement.
8:20 p.m., 4200 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Animal complaint: A pair of police officers were able to coax a three-foot long black and orange snake from a resident’s closet and out the front door of her home. The reptile was last seen disappearing into a bush unharmed.
8:56 p.m., 0 block of Twin Shores Boulevard
Citizen dispute: A dispute involving a new tenant and a community’s approval process for renters resulting in a man from out of state telling police he was heading back back home. An officer responding to a civil disturbance was told a tenant was moving in without community committee approval. The tenant, who had not yet unpacked, said his Realtor had handled the transaction and he was not aware of the details. The owner of the property said the tenant’s Realtor had not followed the proper steps. The would-be tenant gave the keys back to the owner and said he was returning home.
1:39 p.m., 6600 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Animal call: An officer received word of a dog on the loose in a neighborhood. After a short period of looking with the owner calling the dog’s name, the pet returned home.
5:12 p.m., 4700 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Noise: Officers were sent to the area of a construction project to investigate a report of work noise beyond the time frame allowed by town regulations. Officers arrived and had the work shut down per town regulations.
3:56 p.m., 2500 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Citizen assist: Police were called to a resort after a report of a stolen vehicle. Once an officer arrived, he learned from the person who called that the car originally thought to have been stolen was actually being used by a member of a party staying at the resort. The caller wished to cancel the report.
