MANHOLE UNCOVERED

7:06 a.m. – 300 block of GMD
Highway Obstruction: Police found a manhole cover on the median. The Public Works Department was notified.

ALL’S WELL
10:22 p.m. – 5000 block of GMD
Not Missing: A woman reported missing was found eating dinner with friends. The police report was changed from missing person to public assist.

NOV. 29
BRILLIANT LIGHT

3:39 a.m. – 600 block of Broadway
Fire: An officer on patrol reported he heard a “muffled boom and saw a brilliant light” near the intersection of Broadway and Poinsetta avenues. A Comcast technician advised police, fire and Florida Power & Light officials he was fixing an outage.

STRONG ODORS

9:27 a.m. – 6500 block of GMD
Welfare Check: Police told a man requesting a wellness check on a neighbor he had not seen for awhile that the house had been checked several times. The smell coming from the residence is from a sewage leak, police reported. Code enforcement is checking the home’s habitability.

CANCELED CARD
12:33 p.m. – 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway
Found Property: A man turned in a Visa credit card and U.S. Virgin Islands driver’s license after finding them near the Salvation Army donation kettle as he was leaving Publix. The owner was told he could retrieve his items from the Longboat Key Police Department. The bank canceled the cards.

UP IN SMOKE
7:04 p.m. - 3000 block of GMD
Fire Alarm: Cooking smoke set off a fire alarm. The Longboat Key Fire Department had reset the alarm and was clearing out when police arrived.

ELEVATOR RESCUE

11:10 a.m. – 600 block of Roundtree Drive
Public Assist: The Longboat Key fire and police departments worked together to rescue a woman stuck in an elevator. The rescue was made without any damage to the home.
