MISSING PLATE

10:03 a.m. — 600 block of Gulf Bay Road

Property Lost: A woman reported a license plate and Florida decal missing from the trunk of her car. There was no forced entry, and nothing else was missing.

 

NO SIGNAL

3:02 p.m. — 3000 block of Harbourside Drive

Larceny: A man walked in to the Longboat Key Police Department to report he left an $800 Samsung Galaxy 6 cellphone on a golf cart while playing a round three weeks ago. When he returned after lunch, it was gone.

OK WITH WORLD?

11:29 a.m. — 6000 block of GMD

Suspicious Persons: A caller reported a man and woman came to his door to ask if he was OK with the way the world was. He asked them to leave. They drove off in a silver Toyota Sienna.

 

PHONY FPL SCAM

11:45 a.m. — 6000 block of GMD

Attempt to Defraud: A marina employee reported a man claiming to represent Florida Power & Light called to say power would be cut to the business within one hour unless a $1,595.34 bill was paid with payment cards from Winn-Dixie. Police attempted to call the number but it disconnected. The case is active.

 

OCT. 28

EMAIL FRAUD

10:47 a.m. — 500 block of Sanctuary Drive

Identity Theft: A man reported he responded to an email seemingly from a bank requesting personal and account information. Bank officials emailed the same day to report $1,500 taken from two checking accounts and $1,000 from a money market account. The victim opened a case with the bank’s fraud department, closed his accounts and filed a police report.
