Local teacher named as finalist for education awards

The ballot for the annual Manatee County School District's EdVantage Education Awards, includes the name of an East County instructor for the 2013-2014 school year.

Jackie Holloway, a second-grade teacher at B.D. Gullett Elementary, will compete against three other area instructors for the educator award. One educator and one school support staff member will be selected and announced at an award ceremony in March.

Winners will advance to the state level, where they will compete at the Florida Department of Education's contest later this year.
