Local educator files for school board

Charlie Kennedy, a Bradenton resident and Manatee High School social studies teacher has filed to run for the District 2 seat of the Manatee County School Board.

Kennedy has been an educator for 10 years. 

Prior to working at Manatee High School, Kennedy taught at IMG Pendleton School in Bradenton and YouthBuild Public Charter School in Washington D.C. 

His campaign platform includes a focus on early childhood education, and increased spending on students and classrooms, among other issues.

The District 2 seat is currently filled by Barbara Harvey.
