+ Cell towers will not mar Longboat Key’s scenery
Dear Editor:
Jeremy Whatmough’s over-the-top tone decrying the evils of a cell tower on Longboat Key requires a response.

Yes, there is a reception problem, for example, in our house.

A trim 150-foot tower is not going to unduly degrade our environment. The endless string of power poles and wires and the proliferation of traffic signs take care of that.

Longboat will still be a special place.

+ The Observer’s Rick Scott story was filled with opinion
Dear Editor:
Your front page and the four other pages of the Oct. 21 Longboat Observer are a disgrace to the profession of journalism.

No wonder people can no longer trust the media to bring them news of their area!

Your remarks belong on the editorial page. Shame on you for filling the newspaper with what looks like a paid political advertisement.

It was fair, factual and true — especially when compared to the one-sided, incomplete reports Florida’s daily newspapers have printed. — Editor.
