+ Weisman makes good points in his column
Dear Editor:

Jeffrey Weisman’s March 8 guest column, titled, “Speeds shouldn’t be based on seasonal factors,” was to the point and so true.

The speed limit should not be changed or based on seasonal factors.

Also, a drunk hitting and killing someone could occur at any time of the year, within any speed limit.

Those of us who live on the Key all year should not be challenged by lower speed limits, as many of us work, volunteer and have daily tasks to perform off the Key.

It hardly makes sense to change or lower the speed limit for the tourists, when we almost never are able to go the speed limit in December, January, February and March.

One should consider one’s speed in relation to the density of people and structures.

The Florida Department of Transportation must have spent considerable time and effort in setting the current speed limits on the Key.

Residents of our condominium complex discussed the speed limit and other pertinent matters at our last board meeting. Had I had Mr. Weisman’s column then, I would have shared it with them, as his thoughts were our general consensus.
