Longboat Key Fire Rescue is currently conducting fire inspections and tactical surveys of multi-family and commercial structures.

Inspections are conducted annually and based on the Florida Fire Prevention Code and the town’s Fire Prevention Code.

“The objective is to continue our commitment to a safe community to work, live and visit,” said Lt. David Kyle in a prepared statement.

According to Dep. Chief Skip Falcone, tactical surveys are important because they give firefighters a chance to go into buildings and become familiar with them in a safe condition so they are prepared in case of an emergency.
