Lakewood Ranch teenager critical after auto accident

A Lakewood Ranch teenager is listed in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital after a one-car accident on Arnold Palmer Green and Vilamoura Place early Friday morning.

Joseph Coco, 18, of Lakewood Ranch was traveling northbound on Arnold Palmer Green a few minutes before 4 a.m. when he lost control of his 2013 BMW 328I.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, while heading northbound his car failed to negotiate a right curve in the road. The car traveled across the southbound lane and struck a curb. It then left the roadway, hit a crosswalk sign, several bushes and eventually a stop sign before hitting a concrete sign.

An investigation into the accident continues.
