Lakewood Ranch is offering the opportunity for county residents to protect themselves from identity theft.

Individuals interested in disposing of confidential documents, such as bills, receipts and old bank statements, can visit the Lakewood Ranch Grow Financial Branch, located at 11008 Arcade Place, or Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd.

The locations, which are offering the free shredding service, are co-hosting Community Shred Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 16.

Grow Financial will be a drop off only location for off-site shredding, while Town Hall will have a shred truck on site. Should Town Hall reach capacity prior to noon, the Grow Financial shredding truck will move to Town Hall to dispose of the documents.

No business documents will be accepted at the event, which is open to the public.
