Lakewood Ranch man injured in one-car accident

A Lakewood Ranch man is in serious condition after an early Thursday morning crash on Ocean Boulevard in Sarasota.

A Florida Highway Patrol report said Gregory Kerrel Gibson, 34, was traveling northbound on Ocean Boulevard approaching Ocean Place when he failed to negotiate a roadway curve. His 2016 Volkswagen Passat rotated clockwise, went off the roadway and stuck a tree, a landscaping wall and then a second tree.

Gibson was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

The report cited careless driving as the reason for the accident. Gibson was not wearing a seatbelt.
