Lakewood captures district title

The Lakewood Ranch High girls soccer team captured the Class 4A-District 10 title this afternoon with a 4-0 victory over Palmetto. 

Forward Sarah Miller scored the Lady Mustangs' first goal of the afternoon off an assist from Rachel Wojcicki in the 25th minute. Center midfielder Aubrey Riggins scored three minutes later off an assist from Kaitlyn Kerrigan. Kerrigan scored in the 39th minute, giving Lakewood a 3-0 halftime lead. 

Midfielder Kaitlyn Wolfe scored the Lady Mustangs' final goal off a blocked shot by Riggins. 

With the win, Lakewood improves to 16-0-2 and advances to the Class 4A-Region 3 quarterfinals Jan. 28. Lakewood will play host to Tampa Robinson.
