Lady Pirates fall on Senior Night

The Braden River High softball team celebrated the accomplishments of seniors Lauren Powell, Trisha Zuknick, Jessica Gore and Kaycee Wells April 13 during senior night.

The host Lady Pirates fell to Riverview 4-2 in non-district action.  

Hannah Loyer allowed two runs on one hit while striking out 10 and walking five. Zuknick, who returned to the mound for the first time since breaking her thumb March 17, came on in relief, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out two and walking four.

Powell went 1-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and an RBI and Nicole Tira went 1-for-3 with an in the park home run to lead the way for Braden River at the plate. Ashley Allard went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Melissa Malanczuk went 1-for-3 with a stolen base; and Wells went 1-for-3.

The Lady Pirates return to action April 20 versus Dixie Hollins in the opening round of the Class 4A-District 10 tournament.
