Lady Pirates earn back-to-back wins

The Braden River High softball team defeated Manatee 9-2 Feb. 23.

Freshman Courtney Mirabella pitched a complete game for the Lady Pirates, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out 11 and walking two.

Senior Trisha Zuknick led the way for Braden River at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a homerun, an RBI, a walk, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Jess Cadorette went 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBIs. Mirabella went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Nicole Tira finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored; and Hannah Loyer went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

On Feb. 24, Braden River defeated Riverview 3-1.

Zuknick pitched a complete game for the Lady Pirates, allowing one run on five hits while striking out eight and walking one. Zuknick also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Ashley Allard went 1-for-1 with two walks and a run scored and Brooke Ribarich went 1-for-1 with a stolen base and two runs scored to lead the way for Braden River. Tira went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Braden River returns to action at 6:30 p.m., tomorrow night versus Osceola.
