On the Fourth of July, Country Club Shores residents David and Sharron Schar and the Reynolds family went to the beach between the Privateer and Beachplace to watch Siesta Key’s fireworks from a distance. Suddenly, they saw a shadowy figure creeping up on them from the water. Upon investigation, they realized the shadow was a sea turtle who was about the lay her nest. The families gave her space and kept the area clear of pedestrians as the turtle, nicknamed “Sparkey,” dug her nest, laid her eggs and exited the beach. The fireworks weren’t the only sight to which visitors were treated to that night.
