The hard work of children at Primrose School at Lakewood Ranch Town Center paid off Nov. 19 in a practical way.

For the month of November, children ages 3-7 at the school have been doing age-appropriate chores at home to raise money to buy canned and non-perishable goods to donate to the Community Coalition on Homelessness for Manatee County as part of the school’s Helping Hands event, Can-a-thon.

The kindergarten class earned $78 in total, and 18 students went on a shopping spree for items at Publix. Primrose school matched twice the amount earned by the children to show appreciation for their hard work and efforts, Primrose owner Sharon Frank said.

As a school, Primrose has collected more than 300 food items.
