Brett Gastman, 10, vacations on Longboat Key with his family. His grandparents, Ted and Sara Gastman, have owned a Beachplace unit for more than 20 years.

Recently, Brett wrote a school paper about the Key, and we’d say he aced it. He recommends the cookie dough ice cream at Kilwins on St. Armands Circle, the beaches and renting a condo.

He concludes:
“Now you know about the best vacation spot ever (aka, Longboat Key, Florida). It doesn’t matter what age. If you can’t drive or you can’t take a plane, just smuggle out some cash and take a cab or train. I’ve enjoyed going there every time, and I think you would, too.”

Brett apparently has ink in his blood. His cousin, Jason Rosenbaum, 28, is a political writer for the St. Louis Beacon, and he had a story published in the Longboat Observer when he was 10.

We’ll keep an eye out for his byline in the future
