The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee and Marie Selby Botanical Gardens collaborated to recognize Israel’s environmental accomplishments and the importance of water with the “Ein Gedi Pool.”

JFSM donor-directed gifts funded the 1,000-square-foot pool located in the Ann Goldstein Children’s Rainforest Garden.  Marty Haberer, the Jewish Federation’s associate executive director, says the organization’s main goal with the pool is to bring Israel to Sarasota and to educate visitors on the relationship between water, plants and ecosystems.

“We want people to be aware of the amazing accomplishments coming out of Israel,” says Haberer. “Water plays such a vital role … no rainforest would be complete without an abundance of cool, precious, life-sustaining water. No nation could survive without it, either.”

In addition to the pool, the JFSM has entered a five-year partnership with Selby Gardens, where Jewish-themed programs like the celebration of Sukkot will be featured.
