The University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee announced that Terry A. Osborn, regional vice chancellor for academic and student affiars, will begin serving as interim chancellor beginning Aug. 1.

Regional Chancellor Arthur M. Guilford announced his retirement in January, and will step down from his position July 31. However, he will officially retire January 2015, ending his seven years as chancellor of University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee.

Osborn will serve as interim chancellor for the fall semester. The university is searching nationally for a permanent replacement, according to a press release.

“We are excited about welcoming back our faculty and students to the fall semester …and are committed to providing all of our stakeholders with a seamless changeover to our new administration,” Osborn said in the release.

Guilford will continue to assist the university with special projects and with the transition into a new chancellor’s hands.
