Home sales drop 21% in January

Real-estate sales in Sarasota dropped dramatically last month.

The 537 home and condo sales in January represented a 21% decline from the previous month.

The Sarasota Association of Realtors notes that January is traditionally a weaker sales month than December. The group is hoping for a strong rebound in the coming months due to a big jump in pending sales.

January’s 1,013 pending sales were 28% higher than those in December.
