Supervisors on the Heritage Harbour Community Development District sighed in relief Thursday night, as they put to close a longstanding legal dispute between the district and Stoneybrook Investors, owner of the Stoneybrook Golf Course.

Stoneybrook had filed suit against the district in 2011 over changes in stormwater assessments.

After previous settlement negotiations failed, the district signed Thursday a settlement offer that provides for the district to pay Stoneybrook $5,000 and provide the entity with a designated opportunity to speak at the district's public meetings. In the offer, Stoneybrook also concedes "the golf course property is subject to lawful non-ad valorem assessments which may be imposed and levied by District as provided by law."
