Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority board members elected Sarasota developer Henry Rodriguez as their chairman at a March 25 regular meeting.

The Airport Authority consists of six members selected by the governor for four-year terms who oversee Sarasota Bradenton International Airport. Manatee homebuilder Carlos Beruff served as chairman in 2012.

Dr. Gary Kompothecras, founder of 1-800-ASK-GARY, Jack Rynerson and Leslie Wells are also on the board.

Bob Waechter, former chairman of the Sarasota GOP, withdrew his application for re-appointment to the Airport Authority after the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office charged him with two counts of fraudulent use of personal identification in December. Gov. Rick Scott appointed Dr. Peter A. Wish to the board in February.
