The Haile Middle School robotics team captured the state title at the VEX Robotics Championship, held March 1 in Tampa.

The group, which consisted of Brantley Deines, Lincoln Benedicto and Michael Kidisa, defeated 30 teams from across the state.

In addition to being the tournament champions, the team received trophies for design, programming skills, driving skills and the VEX Excellence Award.

By winning the state competition, the team will compete in the Robotics World Competition April 23 through April 26 in California.
