Giving lags for Longboat Key Toys Tots

The Longboat Police Department Toys for Tots campaign is lagging with nine days left before the holiday.

The lull in donations is a surprise to the drive organizer. 

“Historically, Longboat Key residents have been so giving,” said spokeswoman Susan Rochford.

Toys can be dropped off through Dec. 21 at the Longboat Key Police Department, 5460 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

Toys for Tots benefit children in the Sarasota area. Donations can include toys, clothing, bikes, and anything special to bring joy to a child’s holiday, said Rochford.
