+ Sarasota Sailors fall in district opener
The defending Class 7A-District 10 champion Sarasota High football team fell to Braden River 49-12 in its district opener Oct. 2.

Sarasota scored its final touchdown with five minutes to play in the third quarter when Hawkins connected with Dakota Cotner.

The Sailors return to non-district action tomorrow night at Venice.
