Florida Studio Theatre just bought a new property. It's a 5,250 square foot (.12 acres) residential space located at 1259 4th Street, in downtown Sarasota. The nonprofit organization, on average, houses more than 50 guest actors, directors, designers, interns and acting apprentices downtown for approximately four months annually.

“It is important to us that we provide them housing, which allows them to participate in the downtown community,” writes Rebecca Hopkins, managing director of Florida Studio Theatre in an email. “They live and work downtown interacting with the people who fill our houses every night,” she writes.

The property, built in 1945, is a single-family home with one bed and two baths. Stay tuned to YourObserver.com for further updates on this story.
