Florida bridges set to close due to Hurricane Irma

Motorists need to check route if they expect to be on the road.

As Hurricane Irma approaches, the Florida Highway Patrol has announced it will close bridges once sustained winds reach 40 miles per hour.

The Florida Department of Transportation is monitoring wind speeds across bridges. Once the wind speed reaches 40 miles per hour, FDOT and Highway Patrol personnel will be required to seek shelter.
