First nest in LBK Turtle Watch territory hatches

The first turtle nest of the season in Longboat Key Turtle Watch’s patrolling area of the Manatee County portion of Longboat Key has hatched, and the public is invited to watch as volunteers excavate the nest.

Excavation will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 15, at The Shore condominium, 5757 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

The event will be canceled only in the event of lightning. For information, contact Freda Perrotta at 383-6261.
